Our
Story
In 1976 North Judson, along with the rest of the United States, celebrated the Bicentennial of the founding of our country. It was quite a party. It was so enjoyable that many people said, “We need to do this again”. So they looked around for a theme for this celebration and came up with the idea of showcasing mint, since it is an unusual plant in that it wants to thrive in only certain areas. Our region is one of them. There are two other mint festivals in the U.S. and North Judson’s is the second oldest, this year being the 47th! In past years there have been Harvest Festivals, Muck Crop Shows and Jubilees in North Judson. The Mint Festival may be the longest running of all of them. The festival has gained some notoriety.
